Time to Take Action
Psalms 44:5 Through you we will thrust at our enemies: through your name we will trample under foot those that stand against us. (GBMV)
This passage gives a good description of spiritual warfare and how it is to be accomplished. The key principle that is presented here, is that the Lord does not do all the work while you sit passively waiting.
Many have cried out to the Lord and wait for Him to do something about their circumstances. When they are under spiritual attack from the enemy, they expect God to rescue them and fight the battle for them.
But that is not what this Scripture teaches. It shows that God has given us the weapons to do this ourselves. But these weapons only function in and through Him. And if we do not use them, then nothing will happen.
Many folks are like a boxer who continually avoids his opponent, running backwards to avoid being hit. You may avoid injury that way, but you will never win the fight.
Winning the fight comes only when you attack your opponent and cause them some damage. God gives the ability and strength, but you have to do the attacking yourself.
So let's imagine that you are being attacked in some way. It could be in your finances, your physical health, your confidence, your relationships or any other problem you are facing right now.
If you have been crying out to the Lord to take this away and nothing has changed, then you must learn to apply what this passage tells you to do. You must attack.
How do you attack spiritually? You use the main weapons that He has given you, which are the Spirit and the Word. But you also use the Name of Jesus, which gives you all the authority of Heaven.
So you face your enemies and you say, “I come against you in the Name that is above every name. You command them to leave you alone and to go. And when they refuse to do this, you attack them with this Scripture and others in your mouth.
See yourself striking a powerful blow on your opponent, and as in a boxing match, see them fall to the ground as a result of your attack. And then realize that it is NOT a boxing match; it is not something you are doing for sport, but it is warfare, and the enemy must be overcome.
So the next step shown in this passage is that you not only knock your enemy down, but you step on them and trample them under your feet. You totally demolish them, so that they cannot rise up against you again.
As I meditate on this concept, another Scripture comes to my mind which describes this clearly. Here it is:
Romans 16:20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you. Amen. (GBMV)
When God spoke a curse on the serpent in the Garden of Eden after he had tempted Adam and Eve, he said:
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel. (GBMV)
This referred to the coming of Jesus many years later, who would literally crush the head of the serpent and destroy his power. Now you have Him living inside of you, and you do your enemies the same way - you trample them and crush their head.
When dealing with a snake this is the only way to defeat it and disable it. If you don’t it will continue to attack you and hurt you.
So what enemies are you facing right now in your life? It is time you stop crying out to the Lord and praying and waiting and hoping. Stand firm and attack the enemy, knock it down and trample it under your feet, crushing its head so that it will bother you no more.
You will see immediate results and kick yourself for not doing this earlier.
