How To Use The Name

Philippians 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him the name that is above every name:
10 So that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, those who are in heaven, those who are on the earth, those who are in the world below [the realm of the dead]; (GBMV)

This is one of the most powerful Scriptures you can use over and over again when dealing with the problems that face you in life.

In the Scriptures, names were very significant and people were often given names that represented who they were and what characteristics they had. Do you remember that Jesus parents were told specifically what to name Him, because His name means “God saves”

But when Jesus had completed the work of Calvary, His name was enhanced even further. His name now became Lord Jesus Christ, which embraced God the Father, Jesus Himself and also the Holy Spirit.

It was a name that carried authority in all realms of the universe. And that is why it can now be used to deal with any person, influence or thing that we may face in life.

Everything in this world is identified by a name - a term that helps us identify what it is and does. So here are some names that you might want to think about as you consider the problems you are facing.

Poverty is a name. Sickness is a name (Coronovirus or Covid 19 is a name, so is cancer and heart disease). Loneliness, weariness, frustration, anger, fear, worry; all of these are names that describe some of the things we face each day.

Now to help you grasp this concept even better, I want you to imagine yourself facing people or creatures as you walk along the pathway of life. Standing before you now is one of those names.

Choose one that is really standing in your way and causing you problems right now. Can you see him or it in your mind? Visualize this any way that comes to your mind. Perhaps you see a person with a mocking face or sneer on their face. Perhaps you can hear their words in your mind as your thoughts are attacked.

Perhaps you see their name written on their forehead? In many cases, there is a demon power behind these things that attack us, and it might help for you to see that standing behind this person or thing is an ugly demon.

Now I want you to see yourself as you stand there. You are clothed in a robe that the Lord has given you. Because you are a child of God and have made Jesus your Lord, you look just like Him. See yourself standing there dressed just like Jesus dressed.

When this enemy sees you he no longer sees you, but he sees Jesus instead. And the more convinced you are that you stand in Him, the more you will convince him that you are Jesus and not just little old you.

Now you address this thing that is standing against you. You say to it, “Your name is ….” But I am standing in a name that is far greater than your name. And the Scripture says that at the name of Jesus every knee must bow.

That includes you …(name it). And that also includes you, demon power that is behind this thing. So I am telling you now that must bow to Jesus and because Jesus is in me, and I am in Him, you must also bow to me.

Keep laying it on him until you see him bow. Then tell him to get out of your sight and leave you alone. And you will see him turn around and leave you.

I did this once with Lucifer himself, and he had to obey. How much more all the smaller demons that are under him. How much more the things that he tries to use to get to us, like sickness, poverty, and loneliness.

Every time you face a problem, try to build this picture in your mind. Take your stand and demand that it must bow to the Name of Jesus. And do not take no for an answer.

The demon might try to argue with you or convince you that you do not have this power. But you take this passage as your right to claim that, and you continue to lay it on him until he turns and leaves.

In this way, you will overcome every difficulty you face in life. And you will no longer become overwhelmed with these things.
