The Only Thing You Can Count On

There is nothing as refreshing as taking a walk through a well-watered garden in the summertime. The lawn has been growing and mowed to form a lovely soft mat of green. The flowers have bloomed and display their beautiful colors. And they fill the air with their scent.

Can you see yourself sitting there on the lawn, with the flowers all around you? There is just something about getting close to nature that makes you feel close to the Lord isn’t there?

Now you know that this wonderful experience is only going to be there while there is sunshine and rain to water the garden. Or you will water it yourself to keep it like that.

Life’s experiences show that sooner or later that green is going to vanish from the grass and all that will be left will be some dry, brown stumps. The flowers will all dry up and disappear.

Winter will come and you will lose all of that beauty. And you will have to wait for the next spring to see it starting to come back to life again.

But I want you to see a more drastic picture now to help you understand the power of this Scripture. I want you to imagine that you are sitting there on the lovely green lawn, admiring the beautiful flowers and taking in their aroma.

But suddenly an intense heat from the sun comes down on you, and a harsh wind begins to blow. And suddenly, right before you eyes, the green grass starts to turn yellow and dry up.

The flowers lose their color and their scent and their petals fall to the ground. They are all blown away by the wind. And all that you can see is the devastation of the things that made you feel so good.

Life can be like that, when suddenly and unexpectedly all the things that we take for granted and love are snatched away from us almost overnight. I am sure that you know what I am talking about.

But there is one thing that the enemy can never take away from you, and that is the promises of God found in His Word. If you take the time to sit down with the Word and feed on it, you can have some amazing experiences.

You can be sitting in a bare room with nothing in it, but the Word takes you into a world in the Spirit that causes everything around you to disappear.

I want you to see yourself now sitting down with the Bible. It can be an old style printed Bible, or it can be a modern Bible on your electronic device. All you need to do to enjoy life is to take some of those words and use them to build pictures in your mind that make you feel good.

The Word of God has that power, and I have been trying to show you how to take simple passages and convert them into clear pictures and events that will bring more meaning to your life.

Do you realize that you can go on an exciting journey just by getting in the Word and letting God speak to you from it? It will be like He is standing by your side and taking you by the hand.

Imagine as you open the Word, that you can hear Him speaking clearly to you. He tells you that He loves you, encourages you, motivates you and shows you how to have some fun and enjoy life.

The circumstances that make us happy can change overnight. But His word is constant and dependable. Why not take the time to read some of it each day, and join Him on an exciting journey?
