Change Your Name

Romans 4: 17 (As it is written, I have made you a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who gives life to the dead, and calls those things that are not as though they were. [GBMV]

If I were to ask you to describe yourself, which qualities would you use to explain to me who you are?

If you are physically good-looking, financially prosperous, popular, and successful in life, then perhaps you would present me with a good positive picture that shows your current circumstances.

But what if the opposite is true, and you lack many of these things in life? What kind of picture would you paint for me then?

God spoke to Abram and told him that He was going to be a father of many nations. But until that point, Abram had no children, because his wife was barren.

So God made him a promise and told him to change his name to Abraham, which means, “Father of Many”. This meant that every time he introduced himself to someone from this point, he would say, in effect, “I am the father of many people”

Now in the natural, there was little hope that this could ever happen. Abraham had reached an age where he was likely somewhat impotent, and his wife had gone through menopause and no longer was capable of having children.

But that meant nothing to God. He did not call things the way they were, but the way they were going to be. And by changing his name, Abraham started to do the same thing.

This is all that Abraham needed to do from that point onwards. He did not have to scurry around to find some pill that would increase his sex drive or find a way to make his wife fertile. He simply put in his mind a picture that he was a father and his wife was pregnant.

And from that time God began to put together all that was needed to make this become a reality. All they needed was to come to a place of changing their vision and their words.

What Do You Desire In Life

The Lord has placed in you a spirit that has creative power, but before that power can work on your behalf, you must change both the things you say and the things that you see.

Why is this? Because you have what you say and you get what you see. So you must start by saying words that describe who you are in God’s eyes and according to the things that you have desired.

So what is your name? It may be ‘the prosperous one’ or ‘the healthy one’ or ‘the popular one’. As you speak positive words, a good picture will begin to form inside of you. And then the creative power will flow out to create that very thing.

The moment you begin to speak and act as though this is already yours, supernatural power will be released to go out and create the very thing that you have believed. And then it is just a matter of time before you see the full manifestation.
