Divine Health Is Yours

Exodus 23:25 And you will serve the LORD [Yahweh] your God, and he will bless your food, and your water; and I will take sickness away from within you. (GBMV)

This passage contains a powerful promise that will enable you to always believe God for healing, even when you may feel that you have not done the right things to take care of your health.

I see a picture here of a person sitting down to their favourite meal. Yummy, can you just smell the food you love. And as you look at it, prepared so nicely and laid out on the plate waiting for you to get stuck in, suddenly you feel a pang of guilt.

You have been told that some of the things you are about to eat are not good for you. Has this happened to you? Medical and health articles are always telling you that if you eat certain things, they will cause cancer or some other serious disease.

So now you cannot eat without having a guilty conscience. And after you have eaten, rejecting the feelings of guilt, you begin to fear, in case some of this food you just ate could result in some serious sickness getting a hold of you.

Now you feel thirsty, and you would love to have a drink of your favourite beverage. Ultimately this is going to contain mostly water, but who drinks plain water these days?

Nevertheless what you are about to drink is mostly water, and in early Bible days flavoured water was not as common as it is today. So this passage refers to whatever you drink.

Yep, there is sugar in that water you are about to drink to make it more flavourful. Perhaps there are ingredients in there that will do you harm. So when you raise it to your lips to drink you know that this could result in bad health, perhaps even a serious sickness.

But Oh, how lovely it tastes. It is your favourite drink. And after you have drunk it, you worry that perhaps it might cause some kind of illness in your body.

Perhaps it will, and maybe in the natural sickness could come to you from eating and drinking these things. But this Scripture tells you that God says He will do two things.

Firstly, He will bless your food and drink. So now as you eat and drink, I want you to see the Lord standing there smiling at you, saying, “Was that good? I am glad you enjoyed it. I made it for you to enjoy.”
But then He goes even further. He promises you that any sickness that might arise as a result of these things, will not remain in your body. He says He will take all sickness away from inside of you.

So see Jesus standing there as you worry about the effects on your body. And see Him reaching His hand out and saying, “Sickness go! Be healed now and made whole!”

And the sickness literally vanishes from your body. You are totally restored and in perfect health.
