Getting Aligned For Victory
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (GBMV)
This is one of the most powerful Scripture passages for overcoming evil and the attack of Satan in your life.
I see here a picture of someone facing a sudden attack from the enemy. It is a strong attack that perhaps strikes fear into your heart and makes you feel very weak. You seem powerless to deal with this and it overwhelms you.
The natural tendancy is to do one of two things. Either you try to fight back in weakness, and lose the battle. Or you simply turn tail and run away from the situation. Perhaps you are tempted to just wallow and complain.
Any of these circumstances are a time to apply what this Scripture tells us to do. And that is to deal first with yourself. Before you can deal with the attack of the enemy, you must take a close look at yourself.
As you look deep inside you realise that you have perhaps failed and given the enemy license to attack. Giving in to fear alone is a license and a sin. So your starting point is to admit your sin and bring it to the Lord for forgiveness and cleansing.
See yourself turning to the Lord and bowing low at His feet. Ask Him to forgive and cleanse you. And offer Him your life afresh. Tell Him to take full control of everything.
When you do this, you become a soldier under the authority of a higher rank. You hand the responsibility and care over to Him. You give up your rights and stand ready to be whatever He tells you to be.
As you do that, you hear the command of your Lord - “Attack!” Then, knowing that He is fully behind you, you turn to the enemy and address him boldly and without fear.
Pointing your finger at him you say, “How dare you Satan. Who gave you the right to attack me? I come against you now in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and I command you to get out of here.
Can you see the face of the Devil? He gasps in amazement, “Huh? I thought I had you. I thought I had convinced you that I had something over you. But you seem to have found out the truth.”
He realises that he is in trouble and that he has to get out of there fast. And that is exactly what he does. He turns and runs, and you have overcome.
