The Rest of Faith
You have been struggling with the storms of life and it has been a very difficult time for you, says the Lord. But like My disciples of old, you failed to see the clear picture that I was giving them as I lay asleep in the midst of the storm.
How could I sleep when the storm was threatening to sink the boat and drown everyone? I could do it because I had spent time with My Father and I knew that He was there to protect Me. Until the time had come for Me to die, it was impossible for the enemy to drown me.
So instead of striving against the winds and the waves as the disciples did, I turned my back on what the enemy was trying to do and rested securely in the One that I knew I could trust.
Then, when the disciples awoke me in fear, I stood calmly in the authority that I had been given and spoke to the storm. There was no struggle, and I did not need to exert myself with great emotion. Nor did I need to speak many words.
It took only two words, spoken with authority, not only to the storm, but to the spirit that was behind it. I did not cry out to My Father, not did I try to pray hard to make this happen. Because my heart was at rest, unlike the disciples, whose hearts were in turmoil.
In all of this I gave a model, not only for My disciples at that time, but for all disciples who would follow. And that also includes you, says the Lord. For you stand in My Name and My Spirit is living inside of you. And you can act just like Me as you face the storms that life is throwing at you, and that the enemy is using to attack you.
I told the storm to be quiet and to be muzzled so that it could not speak any more. Why did I do this? Because the enemy was using the storm to speak his words of fear into the hearts of the disciples, and they were listening to that voice instead of the voice of My Father.
So also when the storms come against you, learn to recognise the voice that is behind the storm. For it is the voice of the enemy, trying to steal your peace and joy, to move you from the place of rest in Me that I have given you.
So when the enemy comes with his loud voice and you feel you are being moved away from the rest of faith that you have in me, you can do two things as I did. You can turn your back on him and ignore him, or you can speak to him and tell him to be silent and put a sock in his mouth.
This is so much better than striving to fight him on his terms and allowing your heart to be filled with fear.
