Way of Blessing Part 2 - Using Your Blessing Chapter 11 of 25

Section 04 – Receiving Healing
Proverbs 4:20 to 23 says,
My son, attend to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.
Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart.
For they [are] life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it [flow] the sources of life.
Medicines and medical treatment are one of the major industries today.
Everywhere you look you see doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, counseling centers and institutions for mental illness. Everywhere you turn it seems there is some sign of the medical industry and the medical system that is in this world.Â
You cannot go down the main street of a city without seeing doctor's rooms, pharmacies, hospitals, or something that is somehow related to health and medicine. It is part of our society.
Medical societies and insurance companies abound. There are thousands of them, each providing some kind of protection against ill health.Â
Medical Insurance is usually one of the most important deductions made from your income. You have to make sure that you are covered should you get sick and need medical treatment.Â
Some countries have even arranged for it to become part of the system that the Government provides. It is absolutely vital for people to have a health system so that they can maintain their health.
God's Health Care Plan
As we look to the Word though we find out that God has provided for healing and health.Â
When God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden He provided for them the Tree of Life, which they could partake of to bring healing to their bodies.
How do I know that? If you turn to the book of Revelation you read about the Tree of Life that bears its fruit in its season. And it says the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.Â
God provided for His creation to remain healthy. He never ever intended for man to suffer ill health, sickness and disease, pain and suffering. As you go through the Old Testament you can see what God provided for man.Â
As soon as Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden and handed everything over to Satan, they were driven from the Garden and barred from the Tree of Life.Â
After that sickness and disease gradually took hold of their bodies. Eventually God's proclamation and the curse that He spoke upon Adam was fulfilled when He said,
From dust you have come, and to dust you shall return.
Health in the Old Covenant
When God began to enter into Covenants with His people in the Old Testament, He once again offered to them in the Covenant, the blessing of divine health. In Exodus 15:26 it says:Â
If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD [Yahweh] your God, and will do that which is right in his sight, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I [am] the LORD [Yahweh] that heals you.
And in Psalms 103:2 and 3 David says:Â
Bless the LORD [Yahweh], O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases;
God provided in the Covenant that He gave to His people in the Old Testament, that if they would walk with Him in obedience to the Covenant, there would be abundant blessings.
One of those blessings was divine health. God said that sickness and disease would not overtake them.Â
Concerning the diseases that had come upon the Egyptians God said,
I will not allow any of those to come upon you, because I am the Lord that heals you.
Health in the New Covenant
God offered His people divine health as part and parcel of their Covenant.
As we come into the New Testament and the New Covenant, is there any reason why God should offer less to us than He did to Israel? Surely the New Covenant is far greater than the Old?Â
What happened when Jesus came to proclaim the good news of the Covenant that God was bringing? He healed wherever He went.
Wherever He went the sick people followed Him. Wherever He went He reached out and touched them and spoke a word of healing to them. He healed their diseases and set them free.Â
Later on as Jesus called His disciples to Him and trained them, He sent them out also to preach the gospel and He gave them clear instructions to heal the sick.
In Matthew 10:7 and 8 He said,
And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons: freely you have received, freely give.
The New Covenant also carries the blessing of healing.
It has always been God's will for His people to walk in divine health. It has never ever been His will for His creation to suffer sickness and disease. That came as a result of the curse. And God does not desire a curse for us; He desires a blessing for us.Â
The Scripture says that, 'every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, from above.'
Sickness and disease is not a good and perfect gift. It is a curse. But the perfect gift of divine health is available for us. It is God's blessing to us.Â
Saved from Sickness and Disease
When Jesus gave the great commission to His disciples just before ascending, what He said applied not only to them, but to every single believer from then on. It was the commission that said,
"Go into all the world."Â
In Mark 16:15 and 16 He says:
Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that does not believe shall be condemned.
He shall be saved - but saved from what? Saved from hell? No, saved from every effect of the curse. He will be saved, set free, delivered, healed - every single thing involved in that word 'salvation'.Â
Salvation embraces the whole man - spirit, soul and body. It is salvation from the power of sin.
It is deliverance from the condemnation of hell. It is deliverance from the bondage of sickness and disease and demons, and every negative thing that came with the curse.Â
It is our inheritance in the Lord, and if you preach the gospel, the good news of the gospel includes,
"You can be well."Â
Not only is it part and parcel of the gospel, but it is a major part of the gospel. It was a major part of Jesus' ministry. Jesus did more healing than anything else. And when He sent forth His disciples, the first command was to go and heal the sick.Â
What happened on the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came down and the first church was born? The Scripture speaks about signs and wonders being done at the hands of the apostles.
Peter would walk down the street and they would lay the sick in his path so that Peter's shadow would pass over them and they would be healed.Â
Healing is part and parcel of the gospel. It is the good news. The good news is you do not have to be sick anymore. You do not have to suffer anymore. That is what the gospel is.Â
But how often do you hear that gospel preached? Instead you will hear,
"Well if you accept the Lord as your Savior, you won't have to go to hell anymore. You can go to Heaven one day.
But the bad news of course is you're just going to have to be sick because the Lord wants you to be sick sometimes. You will have to be poor, because riches are worldly and you must have nothing to do with them."Â
That is bad news, not good news. The good news is you do not have to be sick anymore, you do not have to sin anymore, and you do not have to be poor anymore.
The good news is that your salvation has been purchased by Jesus on Calvary and it is a complete salvation.
As Jesus gave the great commission He also said in Mark 16:17 and 18:Â
And these signs shall follow those that believe; In my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
As you go forth and preach the gospel, and as you become a believer and stand firm in faith and believe in the Lord, these signs shall follow those who believe.
What is interesting about these signs is that each one of them can be traced back to physical healing.
Misconceptions About Healing
Healing has been offered to us and is part and parcel of the gospel. But why is it that so many believers fail to receive their inheritance?Â
Why is it that so many people who call themselves believers, battle to receive that divine healing and deliverance from sickness and disease that has been offered to them in Christ?
A lot of the time they have not recognized what has become available to them. They have been short changed by the lies of the enemy that told them that they had no right to it.Â
The lie of Satan comes and says,
"It is not God's will to heal you at this time. There is a reason for you being sick. God wants you to suffer for a while, to teach you something."Â
This is a lie from the pit of hell. It has caused many believers to be robbed of their right to healing.Â
The other mistake that believers make is this. They think that physical healing has to come by a divine gift of healing that spontaneously and instantly heals them of their diseases, as it happened when Jesus and the early disciples healed the sick.
Puzzling Questions
Healing does not always take place instantly. I will be discussing shortly how healing comes, and how we can cause healing to take place in our bodies.Â
Many are waiting for a gift of healing and they try to find an evangelist who operates in the gift of healing.
They attend healing crusades where some man of God can lay hands on them and pray that perhaps, somehow if they are lucky enough, God might use that person.Â
In their minds they are thinking,
"Perhaps today will be my day. Perhaps God will reach forth with a gift of healing and heal me from my sickness and disease."Â
Many people leave the meetings disappointed. They see others healed and they are not and they walk out discouraged. They come to the conclusion,
"God didn't want to heal me. I must be a terrible sinner. There must really be something wrong with me that God doesn't want to heal me, and yet He heals other people."Â
There have been many arguments and disputes over this subject amongst believers.
Why is it that some people are healed and others are not healed? Why is it that sometimes God appears to want to heal people and at other times He doesn't?
Then we find situations occurring, where people who did not even know about healing and did not even believe in it are healed.Â
The faith preachers teach that you must have faith to be healed. They say that if you do not have faith you cannot be healed.
Yet there are those who come in that are not even Christians, and they are healed without even knowing about it. It is confusing and puzzling.Â
A Sign Ministry
I want you to realize that there is a sign ministry that is demonstrated by the gift of healing, and those signs are used to draw people to the preaching of the gospel.
They are used to convince the unsaved that God is real; that He is here and that His power is real.Â
This is in order to open their hearts, that they may receive the truth of the Word. It is so that they will open their hearts to the Lord and put their faith in Him, accept Him and be born again of His Spirit.
They are sign ministries that are used to attract people to the preaching of the gospel. But healing for a believer does not necessarily come that way.
I am not saying it cannot or should not come that way. But it does not need to happen that way because you are already a believer.Â
You do not need a sign. You do not need a demonstration of the power of God to prove to you that God is real. You already know He is real.
You already believe He is real. You already have Him within you in your spirit, as we have discussed in this entire series.Â
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing…
Is healing a spiritual blessing? Is it a blessing? Yes, and He has blessed you with healing, with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
He has placed within your spirit the healing that is needed in your body. But most people do not know how to appropriate that healing.Â
That is why we are presenting this teaching on the Way of Blessing. We have been teaching you how to get in and tap the power that is in your spirit, and release the forces of the spirit, to send them forth into the earth.
You can send them forth also into your body, in order to cause divine health to begin to manifest itself in your body.
